• COVID-19 Update 8/24/2020:

    ALL riders are required to wear face coverings to ride on transit
    Follow social distancing as much as possible while on board

    Metrobus:

    • Buses are running starting at 4:00 am and ending at midnight 
    • Check the timetable for specific start and end times  
    • Some routes are not operating. Click here for a complete list of lines not in operation and for other COVID-19 related service changes  
    • Metrobus customers will enter and exit the bus using the REAR doors only  
    • Customers who require use of a wheelchair ramp will be able to use the front door
       

     

    Metrorail:

    • Metrorail operates from 5:00 am until 11:00 pm 
    • Red Line trains operate every 5 minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during off-peak hours  
    • Orange, Silver, Blue, Yellow and Green line trains operate every 8 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours
       

     

    Metrorail

    provides transit service for more than 600,000 customers a day throughout the Washington, DC area. The Metrorail system has six color-coded rail lines, with the Bethesda Station on the red line.  There are no parking facilities at the Bethesda station.   

     

    Metrobus

    provides more than 400,000 trips each weekday serving 11,500 bus stops in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.

     

    Paying for service

    Metrorail only uses SmarTrip® Card, a permanent, rechargeable farecard that is safe and easy to use. Buy SmarTrip® cards online, at any Metrorail station, or at many convenient locations

    When paying for Metrobus fare, riders can use SmarTrip® card or cash.  If using cash you must have exact change. Bus operators do not carry money.
